Main Character Concept

The character I have to spend the most time and work on is of course the main character. I was only giving myself basic direction with her age being around ten and being a female. I have no name in mind, because I feel when creating characters if I give them a name it'll give bias to how they'll look or act; example would be wanting to create a character named Bob and the end result would be your mind would subconsciously think of all the people named Bob you know and project that on to your character. The end product was so:
Since the story takes place in a more steampunkish society, I went with a nice dress for her with different variations. Later while researching how living in the clouds would work I found it'd be very cold hence my changes in her dress from the short sleeves to a more winter looking attire.

Children's book base Story

For TSA, I shall be making a children's book based on a STEM topic; the topic I found a lot of joy in is flying. The basis for the story follows around a ten year old girl who lives in a flying house a little below the clouds (for reasons to make this sorta believable). The thing is the girl comes to find what she thought was magic keeping her house up is actually mix of physics and engineering similar to birds. She then figures if birds and her house can fly so can she then attempts to engineer a way to fly tackling it in a way many 10 year olds would from trying to make her own wing feather to trying some odd combination of cardboard boxes and wires until she can find an idea that works (process and elimination).
